It's any chemical that your neurons release in order to communicate with other neurons. They're the molecular constituents of your thoughts and...anything you do, really.
I've been looking into the golden-eyed animals and I asked this biologist if the rage sickness had any reason to affect emotions instead of an immune response and they said there is a "post-effect of certain neurotransmitter responses".
Certain abnormal immune responses can produce antibodies against receptors in the brain, which can cause abnormal central nervous system functioning. This includes seizures and altered mentation, but a prominent feature can include emotional dysregulation and disinhibition.
How extreme are their responses? Have you found specific triggers? And has anyone started actually collecting samples from them?
The rage sickness is cured by our touch and I'm not willing to hand over those samples so we'll only ever have half the picture unless someone gives us a lab and I make you run the samples.
Let me find you a video of the rage sickness. They've turned it into a drug.
[ This is highly relevant information, especially if he encounters someone with an overdose. ]
How do people act? What physiological changes are known? Perhaps from that I can begin to determine a mechanism of action for the durg itself before we even get to a lab.
[ jyn attaches a video from the fighting rings where someone vapes something and then enters the ring with an almost single-minded focus and determination that turns to beating their opponent to a bloody pulp. ]
I think the people who went to Cairo and Rio got some dosed rations, you could ask them what the symptoms were. Quentin was in Rio and Marcos was in Cairo, they might be able to tell you more.
